Learning for life

Life is all about gaining knowledge. I am sure that everyone out there agrees that education is important for us to gain knowledge. But I believe that learning from our own experiences is also equally important. It makes us wise.

I have done my bachelor's in computer applications and I had always dreamt of being a part of the corporate world. But God had planned something different for me and so I landed in Oxford Public School for my first job. Since it was not something I had ever wanted, I was not very enthusiastic about my work in the initial days. It took me sometime to realize that my job was not monotonous, it had its own challenges and I could learn a lot from it. This realisation and the love and support of Oxford family made me comfortable and soon I was loving my work.

The 3 years that I have worked here have just flown away. I have gained experience, knowledge, wisdom and have created so many wonderful memories. Handing phone calls, managing visitors, coordinating one thing or the other, practicing and performing on stage on various occasions. I love everything I do at school. I am happy to be working here and I have grown as an individual.

And for all this, I have to thank Principal ma'am. Interaction with her is always an enriching experience. I remember one day in my initial days, ma'am had given me some work which I could not complete on time. She counseled me and when she understood my problem, she told me - 'Every problem is a chance'. At first I had no clue as to what she meant. How can a problem be a chance? Aren't they troubles with a capital T? But later, I realized what ma'am meant. According to her, every problem is a fresh chance to learn something new.

I am fortunate to be working at an institute which has helped me change my perspective to view things. Thank you Oxford.

Let's be a child again

A child, who is a new spring A child, who is full of energy A child, who has desires A child, who has immense love. Life is not a game to tame, It is to feel the pleasure Life is to do silly acts, Add to regret them. Life is to appreciate what you have, It is to cherish the beauty you have. Life is to love the people around you, Not to question the relationships with you. Life is to accept the reality. It is to express heartily. Life is to live the moment, to be around the people you love, to keep your heart out, to enjoy the beautiful time, to plead, to regret........ Life is too short to be spent in ignorance and hatred. Life is just to love and spread love..... Priya Mundra Educator, Oxford Public School

Secrets of a Teacher's Ward

It has been a year I passed my 12th grade and began a new journey of my life, but the memories of Oxford Public School have not yet faded. It has been a long journey with some ups and downs, a lot many things a child experiences in his school days - bunking a class, roaming around the corridors, standing outside Principal’s office, parents being called for annual report and what not. I am pretty sure most you might have experienced all of this, but to everyone’s surprise all of this never happened with me because my mother teaches in OPS. I find this blog the right platform where I can explain how it is to be a teacher’s ward. It is definitely fun. You are neither ghar ka na ghat ka :D . Classmates see you as a potential tale-teller and teachers expect you to be a perfect student!  I always studied in the school where my mother taught and for a year she was my class teacher too. So in my 15 years of schooling, I never missed her. We literally spent 24 hours together unde...

Make A Difference

My journey as an educator began 25 years ago at this very school- Oxford Public School. Teaching different grades in this awesome journey, I have developed deep appreciation and understanding for this noblest profession. Providing an environment where my students can take risk and experience authentic learning is the cornerstone of my educational philosophy. The connection between student and teacher is everything. All through these years I have been trying to repair self- efficacy of students in different subjects, especially in English. Earning trust of students is the vehicle for making the necessary adjustments to make them believe, in their ability to analyse and create their own masterpieces. 'What is best for our students?' This is the question that twirls around my mind about one hundred times a day. My job as a teacher is to make learning experience engaging, encouraging and inspiring to all learners. I teach with purpose in mind. I want school to be a f...
